I've already used parts like this with my darth vader light circuits v2 and I've decided to do the same with r2
To do your own cables, you need to choose a connector : a Crimp Connector Housing 0.1 inch pitch , some male or female crimp pins, few wires and choose the connector with crimp pins for the second side of your cable.
Then These pins can be crimped on 22-28AWG wires and snapped into the crimp connectors housing chosen and you've got your own cable.
I've bought some Crimp Connectors Housing with 1x2-Pin, 1x4-Pin, 1x6-Pin, 2x3-Pin, 2x5-Pin and the more popular with our servos 1x3-Pin but there's a lot of others models
